New Zealand Red Cross Special Project

360 Logistics are proud to provide emergency relief logistics services to the New Zealand Red Cross (NZRC). This commitment to supporting international relief aid requires a team of four senior staff to be on call 24/7 to respond to domestic and international emergencies.

In March 2015, our team was called to action by the NZRC as Tropical Cyclone Pam hit the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu. Regarded as one of the worst natural disasters in the history of Vanuatu, the NZRC deployed relief supplies to support the Vanuatu Red Cross Society. Our logistics specialists were on standby from the time Pam first hit Vanuatu, and on Saturday 14th March they responded immediately to the NZRC’s directives to facilitate the urgent export of aid supplies. Within a few hours they had coordinated both the physical and administrative components of the shipment including the collection of supplies from the Red Cross facility in Wiri, Auckland, to delivery at the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) base in Whenuapai.

In this short time, 11 pallets of goods (comprised of tarpaulins, water containers and first aid kits) were carefully detailed and documented ready for export and were cleared through customs. Our team coordinated the shipment across all involved parties including the New Zealand Red Cross, the Royal New Zealand Air Force, New Zealand Customs, and local cartage service providers.

The pallets of aid supplies arrived at Whenuapai by 5pm the same day, and the consignment was air freighted by the RNZAF that evening. The supplies arrived in Vanuatu early in the morning on Sunday 15th March ready for local distribution.
